Chronic kidney disease is an illness that occurs when a disease attacks the kidney and leaves it functionless or damaged beyond functioning. What are the causes of chronic kidney disease? #causesofchronickidneydisease.
Chronic kidney disease is an illness that affects the kidney leaving it functionless and continues to worsen as time passes by if the individual fails to seek medical attention. Some of the causes include high blood pressure, diabetes (both type 1 and 2) and polycystic kidney disease ("Chronic Kidney Disease", 2016). In most cases, the kidney is unable to fully function thus leading to accumulation of waste material in the body hence causing complications. Prolonged obstruction in the urinary duct, enlarged prostrates, some cancers and kidney stones are also some of the leading causes of the chronic illness (Safouh, Fadel, Essam, Salah, & Bekhet, 2015). It is important for individuals to comprehend the causes so that they can know healthy practices that keep them from contracting the disease. Moreover, they get to know what to avoid and the kind of illnesses that should be taken seriously. It is also a common condition that is often associated with age ("The Use of a Kidney Based Probiotic for Chronic Kidney Disease: Recognition of the Importance of the Gut", 2013). Black people and people of southern Asia origin are at high risk of contracting the illness according to a recently concluded research.

In the early stages, the disease does not have any physical symptoms as it can only be tested in the blood. In most cases, people do not realize that they have contracted the disease until after blood or urine tests have been done maybe for other reasons unassociated with the chronic illness (Weisbord, 2007). However as it continues to advance the symptoms become more evident in the body, and they include abnormal fatigue whereby the individual is always tired, swollen ankles or both hands and feet, blood traces in the urine, shortness of breath and always feeling sick (Katz, 2005). The symptoms of the disease are only noticeable after the development of the illness. It is advisable to occasionally visit the hospital for check-ups and tests to ensure that the body is healthy.
