Health Care Reform: Is it Beneficial to NPs?

Introduction
Healthcare reform refers to a process of changing healthcare system in order to address current issues affecting the practitioners. The reforms need time to be passed by the Congress before it is enacted into law through governmental policies. An ideal reform should focus on well-being of the American population. The rise in number over the past 5 years to an estimate of 27 million Americans since the ACA act was passed into law has an impact in the health workforce as well. It is predicted by the Health Resources and Services Administration that the United States will have a shortfall of primary care physicians. Therefore, provision of funds for care comes with growing demands and reform in the manner how care is delivered. The scope to effects that comes with this reform to the NPs will be discussed onwards. We shall also delve into how NPs will be reimbursed under this plan.
Due to recent developments of the nurse practitioner roles, NPs have been advocating for policy allowing them to practice to the full extent of their training. Enactment of FPA in all states in the practice has allowed patients independent access to quality healthcare (Villasenor & Krouse, 2016).
