Biological basis for psychotherapy 
Psychotherapy relies on psychological methods to address mental health issues and emotional difficulties, change behavior and overcome problems. In psychotherapy, there is the interaction of a psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, or other mental health practitioners with clients(s). There has been a growing interest in studying the relationship between neurobiological models of mental functions and psychotherapy. Behaviors change the brain and a person learns something the brain tends to change because of neuroplasticity (TEDx, 2015). The gene-environment interaction further provides insights into how psychotherapy can be explained using biological paradigms. Treatment using psychotherapy further shows the interaction between therapy and biology. In the biological context, some changes may affect psychological wellbeing based on the influence of genes and changes in hormone levels. 
Culture influences health beliefs and there are groups more reluctant to seek psychotherapy treatments. For instance, East Asian communities like the Chinese tend to utilize alliterative treatment to psychotherapy and western medicine where there is a focus on achieving balance. Kam, Zhang &Bäärnhielm (2019) highlighted that some Chinese people still believe that violating the harmony of nature partly explains the increased risk of mental health issues such as depression.  The source is scholarly article that was published in the Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry journal. Religious people tend to either believe in psychotherapy that uses insights and their religion, but some are reluctant to use therapy services as they have faith they can overcome some mental health issues. Communities reluctant to use psychotherapy tend to be more conservative and suspicious of outsiders (Sharman & Jinks, 2019).The peer-review article focuses on orthodox Jewish primary schools in North-West London with the community being more enclosed and wary of ideas not associated with their religion. Nonetheless, there is recognition that spiritual assessment and therapy meet the clients’ spiritual needs and psychological needs. Faith, beliefs, and practices influence whether people seek psychotherapy and whether they trust these services. 
The rich and the middle class have better access to information and affordable mental health care services than the poor, and they are more likely to seek psychotherapy services. The socioeconomic status influences those who seek psychotherapy services, which are less accessible in economically deprived areas and homesteads (Krause et al., 2018). The peer review reviewed article highlights that economical deprivation has a negative impact on the adequate access and attendance of psychotherapy sessions in Chile and Colombia. This especially when there is no understanding of the problem and there is negative experience of psychotherapy.
