Research aims to develop a body of knowledge for a specific subject. Research validates existing knowledge and develops new knowledge (Keele, 2011). Research lays down a foundation which practices decision and behaviors are adhered to. Nursing Research follows a systematic approach and tries to evaluate cases that are important to nurses and nursing (Keele, 2011). While Evidence- Based Practice research uses an approach of problem-solving to clinical decision making that integrates to explore the latest and the best evidence, clinical expertise and assessment (International Council for Nurses, 2012). An example of research project done by Walker, Cledon& Nelson( 2015) on "Nursing roles and responsibilities in general practice" focusing on three case studies is a form of qualitative research which was to describe the: .. "different configuration of health professionals' skill-mix in three dissimilar primary care practices, their inter-and -intra-professional collaboration and communication, and explore the potential of expanded nursing scopes and roles to improve patient access p.236 An example of evidence-based practice project is by Bianchi, et.al (2014) on "Maternal blood test for fetal aneuploidy". This project compared cell- free fetal DNA (cfDNA) testing with standard first or second trimester noninvasive prenatal testing for fetal aneuploidy in 1,914 low-risk women with singleton pregnancies. Bianchi, Parker, Wentworth et.al (2014)found that cfDNA test had reduced anxiety provoking false-positive results in pregnant women who had chosen to undergo an aneuploidy screening. Their conclusion that this screening test could reduce invasive and anxiety in low-risk women (Bianchi, et.al,2014).
