Evaluation Plan of the Proposed Community-Based Intervention Program
Introduction
California has one of the highest obesity cases in the US. The proposed community-based intervention program is an approach that intends to promote a healthy living for both children and adults thus, reducing the cases of obesity. Although obesity risk is a challenge for all, previous public health efforts have struggled to counter the rising obesity trends. By adopting the community-based intervention it would ensure that public education efforts are both relevant and practical for the diverse population in California, and is necessary to addressing the obesity problem in State (Flegal et al., 2010). To measure the effectiveness of the program, it would be necessary to evaluate it. Accordingly, an evaluation plan would be crucial for the purpose.

They need to ask whether the community-based intervention is likely to alleviate the problems of nutrition for the targeted population. The function of the evaluation is to determine the systematic collection and outlining the use of the variables information to judge the correctness of the situation. This would provide feedback on the process of implementing and assessing the effectiveness and impact of the program of action. The evaluation of nutrition programs and physical activities will involve the collection of qualitative and quantitative data for analysis and explanation of the situations. The process will require interviews, surveys and questionnaires carried out in the community, involving people from high and low-income areas, schools and different ethnic groups.
The Methods of Evaluation
Survey of the community attitudes
The process needs to find out the views of the community on the health education programs before and after the implementation. It is necessary to find out if people in the community support the programs and are adhering to the policies stipulated requiring the community to eat foods with high nutrients and participating in physical exercises. It is important to know the views of schools’ management on the proposed solution for the prevention of obesity among children. An evaluation of the foods stocked in the market places is also relevant in order to know if they meet the standards of nutritional value as proposed by the community-based intervention program.
Turnover rates
In the evaluation process, it is critical to know how many members have left the program and the reasons for leaving. The community members need to support the program for it to be successful. It is important to fi...
