Students with special needs usually have many challenges when it comes to accessing quality education. Nurse educators have the opportunity to transform the learning process, which can accelerate performance amongst learners. Regardless of the country and state of the economy, it is the government’s obligation and other stakeholders to put measures that support this agenda. Extending the learning process and adding more disciplines in nursing practicum has excellent benefits in improving education among students with special needs. The goal of this paper is to provide a rationale on the topic area "How a Nurse Educator can Ensure the Quality of Learning Experience for Learners with Special Educational Needs.”
Rationale
The justification for the research question will be provided in different dimensions according to the requirements of educations boards and international organizations supporting education (Clark, 2008). For example, the 2008 convention passed a treaty that would protect the rights of learners with disabilities. The facilitation of learners with special needs is explained in detail in this particular treaty. Ideally, enrolling in nursing classes as a disabled person has great benefits to the entire fraternity (Mthiyane & Habedi, 2018). Only people with disabilities can understand the needs of these learners. Moreover, there are other people with great understanding about the matter, and they should also be involved in solving the dilemma.
Nurses with special needs are perceived as losers and sometimes are not regarded as capable of handling tasks (Gaberson, Oermann & Shellenbarger, 2014). Nurse educators should have an engaging platform that accommodates all learners. In this case, they should provide resources that enhance productivity in class. As far as disability is concerned, it is important to handle learners with disabilities with dignity (Kelly, Vottero & Christie-McAuliffe, 2018). Over the years, the number of disabled learners joining nursing classes has increased tremendously. It is a positive milestone, considering learners with special needs did not embark on technical courses (Ghasemi, Moonaghi & Heydari, 2020). Therefore, it is the obligation of policy markets and international bodies to ensure these learners access the required materials.
