One thing that needs to be understood is that both of these records are considered digital records. They both contain a patient’s information as it pertains to their health and healthcare history. It is true that EHR and EMR are used interchangeably, however, the two are quite different, especially when one considers some of their foundational features. For example, one, the EHR, is a holistic system, while the other, the EMR, is limited in scope. Also, it is crucial to mention that both of these records are not widely used in hospital organizations.
