I would like to present the following topics to the faculty. One is regarding the emphasis on health education, and the other one revolves the orientation of new school nurses. Health education is vital for the growth and development of young people, but in the society today it has been neglected. In school students ought to be taught health education so that they can avoid common illnesses for instance infections. High school students do not put much consideration into their health or rather their hygiene they are careless when it comes to cleanliness. Health education should be introduced at every level in the school to make sure that students are constantly reminded about hygiene and its importance. Once this is achieved then the school nurse will have a comfortable time as fewer students will stop seeking treatment for minor diseases that can be avoided. According to the Centre for disease control and prevention 50% of the cases treated by nurses are as a result of poor hygiene among children (Evans, 2014).
School nurses orientation is imperative for the well-being of both the nurse and the students combined. Orientation for a new nurse is important as it familiarizes them with the work they are going to be doing. It is also essential because the new members can identify the advantages and disadvantages of the job specification. To make this presentation, I would need a week and a half. This is because I have to conduct some research and interviews which might take long but I am positive within two weeks the presentation can be ready.
