EPIDEMIOLOGY OF INFERTILITY
Option #2 - Provider Education Program
Develop a two-hour infertility education workshop for primary care providers. The goal of this educational seminar will be to enhance the capacity of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or other primary care providers to meet the needs of the growing number of individuals who face challenges with regard to fertility. Your will ultimately be submitting a 10-15 page final paper for this SLP option (see Module 5 SLP web page for more information).
Option Two Task:
For your Module 1 SLP paper, please identify the target group (e.g., primary care physicians, nurses, physician's assistants, midwives, etc.) for your provider education workshop, and provide rationale for selection of this group. Identify the professional associations with which this group has historically been affiliated (e.g., California Medical Association, Washington State Nurse Association, West Texas Physician's Assistant Association, Alaska Midwife Association, etc.). Describe the mechanism that you will use to market your workshop to this target group. Please limit your paper to 2-3 pages. *** Submit your paper at the conclusion of this module.***
SLP Assignment Expectations
For this assignment, you are to write a paper in which you respond to one of the aforementioned prompts.
LENGTH: 1-2 pages typed and double-spaced for Option #1; 2-3 pages typed and double-spaced for Option #2
The following items will be assessed in particular:
1 PRECISION: Each of the questions of the assignment is specifically addressed in the paper.
2 CLARITY: The paper reads clearly (i.e., it is not confusing) and is well-structured.
3 BREADTH: The paper presents appropriate breadth covering the questions of the assignment.
4 DEPTH: The paper presents points that lead to a deeper understanding of the matters and/or issues being discussed and integrates several points into coherent conclusions.
5 APPLICATION: Your assignment reflects an application of concepts and principles covered in this course to policies governing infertility treatment or to clinical practice.

Note that the use of Wikipedia,*encyclopedias, and websites such as findarticles.com is not permitted and will result in grade deductions on the SLP assignment.
In your literature search and review, you should focus upon quality academic materials, i.e., peer-reviewed articles and studies. For example, in ProQuest, you can narrow your search by clicking on the box that reads "scholarly journals, including peer reviewed." This will display only those journals that fit this description. Popular magazines may be useful for some information, but should not be the sole source of your information. (NOTE: Not all sources found in ProQuest are scholarly and/or peer-reviewed, so you will need to make this determination carefully.)
You may use web sites to obtain information, however, websites MUST be published by reliable sources (sources such as www(dot)findarticles(dot)com are not considered to be reliable; sources published on governmental web sites are). Home pages of individuals should be avoided as they tend to be highly opinionated.
*Wikipedia is an "open" web site, and its content can be altered by any registered user. There is no way to establish that its contents are reliable or accurate. Again, it may be a good place to start, but should not be relied upon heavily OR as the sole source of information for a paper of this nature.
Keep in mind that "A" papers are truly exceptional works that go beyond simply answering the questions.
NOTE: Please be sure to provide citations of sources consulted in preparing your paper in the body of the actual document itself (i.e., in addition to furnishing a reference list). Remember, any statement that you make that is not common knowledge or that originates from your synthesis or interpretation of materials that you have read must have a citation associated with it.
