Consider a topic that rises to the presidential level. How did each of the presidents (Trump, Obama, and Bush) handle the problem? What would you do differently?

The opioid crisis is among the issues that rose to the presidential level of debate. The opioid crisis refers to the overuse of drugs that has opioid. The overuse is associated with all the drugs obtained through illegal sources or medical prescriptions. The crisis began in the United States of America in the 1990s. Opioid medications were being prescribed for pain relief, and their use continued to increase in the subsequent years. Between 1997 and 2017, approximately 399000 people had died as a result of an opioid drug overdose. Currently, approximately 130 people die each day in the US due to opioid overdose (Rutkow & Vernick, 2017). The deaths have made the use of opioids become a public health emergency. Opioid overuse has become an essential healthcare agenda. The administration of Presidents George Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump have had various strategies to eradicate opioid drugs in the market.
Presidents George Bush's approach
President Bush addressed the opioid crisis by implementing a drug control strategy. The president made the fight against drug abuse one of the national agendas (Ogawa, 2018). This meant that funds would be allocated to deal with drug dealing and abuse. A large number of opioid-related deaths were individuals who obtained the drug from illegal sources. Therefore, a fight against drug dealing would help reduce the number of opioids available on the black market.
President Barack Obama's approach
President Obama's administration began to deal with the opioid crisis in the year 2011. In the year 2016, the president authorized funds for research regarding the opioid crisis.
