Nurses have to serve patients' needs for their biopsychosocial and spiritual wellbeing. Not only does the nursing practice require empirical knowledge but also interpersonal and technical abilities. Communication is a critical tool within the nursing profession as it offers interventions through prevention, therapy, and health promotion. Communication describes the exchange of information, ideas, and feelings through discourse or other means. It is a continuous process that happens without words. Since communication is directional, it involves the decoding of messages regarding personal factors and illusory ideologies. Nurses must recognize the concerns, extend emotional support, and execute preventive measures for effective communication.
Firstly, Camille is an adolescent patient with clearly an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy, which is more common within American society. To further the problem, she has a history of corporally abusive parents, which adds to her predicament. This predisposes Camille to specific risks that demand a well-defined element of care to be well-executed (World Health Organization, 2011). Camille's care offers multiple issues making it a somehow challenging consult. Therefore, the practitioner's strategy should be to create a rapport with the patient and carve the image of a 'trustful friend.'
