HIV Policies
The HIV/AIDS is an epidemic that has rocked the United States for quite some time now. The government has however been on the forefront of ensuring that the infection rates are kept at the bare minimum. In these efforts, there are federal and state laws that are geared towards enhancing quality care for the HIV patients in the United States. One of the federal blanket laws that were enacted to the=is effect is the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act of 1990 (Health Resources & Services Administration, 2018). This is an act that is named after Ryan White a person living with HIV who was born with the virus and lived to his 18th year right before the enactment of the Act (Congress.gov, 2018). The law provides for the government efforts in providing quality and improving the availability of care for the HIV patients across the nation. The Health Resources and Services Administration under the Act is mandated to allocate funding to all the programs that are created under the CARE Act (Congress.gov, 2018). In the state of Alaska, the laboratory tests of an HIV positive patient are supposed to be reported in a bid to keep track of the patients that are infected. This is under the 7 AAC 27.007. Reporting by laboratories, prompting from the results and tests confirmation ("DOC Frame Page", 2018).
The idea behind the state and the federal laws is fueled by the need to keep an alive and well-updated database for the patients that are infected with the HIV at any one time.
