The gap of relevance is a common issue in Nursing and other fields of Medicine wherein there is a seen difference between ideal practice and common implementation. Nursing is not only a job but is also a commitment to treating people’s ailments that goes beyond what is written in medical books, but actually requires empathy and understanding. The gap existing between theory and practice can be addressed by divergent philosophies such as complexity theory, ecological science, and quantum theory.
Complexity theory has long been part of the healthcare system and this complexity has been associated with caution because of the tendency of not being able to merge the study of other branches, due to the theory’s belief in abstracts (Paley & Eva, 2011).
