The coronavirus primarily attacks the breathing system and manifests in the lungs, making it difficult for patients to breath. People over 60 years had the highest mortality risks because of their weak immune systems. They hence had to adhere to the government regulations that prioritized social distancing and avoiding crowded places. Lockdowns and movement restrictions have been enforced even in countries where there a low cases and governments advice for the measures to be maintained because of the virus longevity. Success of combating the disease hence short-term gains should not influence safety changes. The center for disease control and prevention (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) updated on May 28, 2020, indicated that there were a total of 81,372 deaths but the number of fatalities had significantly dropped compared to the period April 4 and May 16 2020. Since May 23, only 793 people had died due to coronavirus complications. So far New York and New Jersey still top in the number of fatalities while the states of Wyoming and Alaska have not recorded any deaths.
