The Female Distribution video (2014) discusses transgender, mentioning how healthcare workers are little equipped to handle them. Their training does not factor in a lot of cultural practices touching on the transgender groups, meaning they need extra understanding during work to work with them satisfactorily. My practice changes depending on this information. I strive to be a comprehensively and diversified healthcare giver, able to handle people from all walks of life, as discussed by Nair and Adetayo (2019). From the video, I will change my way of caregiving, starting with the study and understanding of people from the transgender groups. I have to research more, understand them, and deliver well according to the preferences they have.
Legislation currently recognizes individuals from the transgender group. During the 96th Congress (n.d), they agreed that the groups have rights, like housing, and shelter. One such bill is the ‘A bill for the relief of Estella Chan, doctor of medicine.’ These are people admitted in the United States and can receive permanent residence.
