COVID-19 Patient Care

Essay Instructions:

A PICOT question starts with a designated patient population in a particular clinical area and identifies clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care. The intervention used to address the problem must be a nursing practice intervention. Include a comparison of the nursing intervention to a patient population not currently receiving the nursing intervention, and specify the timeframe needed to implement the change process. Formulate a PICOT question using the PICOT format (provided in the assigned readings) that addresses the clinical nursing problem.
The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project change proposal.
In a paper of 500-750 words, clearly identify the clinical problem and how it can result in a positive patient outcome.
Describe the problem in the PICOT question as it relates to the following:
Evidence-based solution
Nursing intervention
Patient care
Health care agency
Nursing practice

Patient: Patients with COVID 19 on oxygen supplementation
Intervention: laying prone position, sideways, usage of Incentive spirometer,
Comparison: patients on supine at all times and not using IS as often and not ambulating
Outcome: Patients who prone and use incentive spirometer will have higher oxygen saturation than those who do not, while on supplement oxygen (Nasal Cannula, high flow nasal cannula, bipap, mechanical ventilation)
Time: Maximum 2 weeks. ********

COVID-19 Patient Care
In intensive care units (ICUs) all around the world, healthcare-associated infections are a significant concern. Coronavirus infections caused a respiratory disease in 2019.  COVID-19 was initially discovered in December 2019 and has since spread throughout the world. Most individuals have a mild sickness (80%), 15% are very unwell (requiring oxygen), and 5% require ICU care (Vitomskyi et al., 2021). The majority of severely ill patients require intubation and mechanical ventilation right away to improve oxygen saturation. Septic shock and multi-organ failure, including acute renal injury and heart injury, are other consequences. The risk of death rises with age and the presence of concomitant conditions such as COPD, hypertension, and diabetes. As a result of the high demand for oxygen saturation for the COVID-19 patients in health care centers has led to the invention of the incentive spirometer and laying prone position.
The incentive spirometer is used to help COVID-19 patients enhance their oxygen saturation by teaching them how to decrease or avoid postoperative pulmonary problems and exercise their lungs. The incentive spirometer is extremely useful in assisting health care clinicians in evaluating, treating, and managing patients who satisfy the requirements for COVID-19 patient care. A survey conducted from a particular health center revealed that COVID-19 patients using the incentive spirometer had more income than those who did not use it (Tiwari et al., 2021). This was because the incentive spirometer boosts the oxygen saturation of the patient hence improving their health.
The COVID-19 pandemic is a worldwide phenomenon that has affected all countries and communities, putting public health services under unprecedented strain in recent years. Some of the more complex issues in treating the disease include the appropriate response procedures in triaging patients with COVID-19-like symptoms and the j...
