Healthcare organizations aim to provide quality healthcare to improve the satisfaction and wellness of patients and their families. This aim can only be achieved with adequate resources ranging from skilled healthcare personnel, quality medical equipment, and sufficient medical beds. In addition to these resources, a thriving hospital must establish a collaborative culture and a strong leadership structure for effective communication and adopt modern technology to allow smooth operation. Healthcare professionals should also build a therapeutic relationship to enrich the patients’ experiences. The above factors are the cornerstone for patient and employee satisfaction in healthcare. The Caring Angel Hospital lacks most of these aspects. That is which is why the hospital is not performing well. As a senior consultant assigned to the hospital, it is crucial to evaluate the primary challenges faced in the facility and propose significant steps that the hospital could take to achieve the following goals:
Improve the Quality of Care
From the scenario, Caring Angel Hospital lacks quality care due to a lack of effective communication, lack of teamwork or collaboration, poor relationship between employees and patients, and poor infrastructure. The hospital should foster a collaborative environment to allow employees to work as a team rather than individually. This can be done by setting up team-building activities, encouraging clear, frequent communication, and giving employees autonomy in decision-making.
Effective teamwork promotes innovation and productivity and improves the quality of work and satisfaction (Rosen et al., 2018). Teamwork will improve the relationship between employees and enable them to work together to provide quality care. Caring Angel Hospital should also foster therapeutic nurse-patient relationships by training and directing its professional staff on building friendly relationships with the patients.
Regarding infrastructure, Caring Angel Hospital should install excellent infrastructure, including seats in the waiting area, since the available seats are not comfortable. The comfort aspect gives patients a sense of self-assurance about the quality of care they will receive from the facility. These measures will improve employee satisfaction and create an environment that values the patients' health.
Add Value to the Organization
The current situation at Caring Angel indicates that the hospital needs to improve its value. From the observation, patients are still hopping from one specialized hospital to another in search of various specialized treatments. To add value, Caring Angel should upgrade its machines, purchase modern equipment for specialized treatment, and hire specialized physicians. This will ensure the hospital offers specialized treatment plans for various conditions and illnesses. It will also save them from hopping from one facility to another.
