The nurse manager skills inventory is a leadership inventory that was used to evaluate change in practice and behaviors, and helps to identify the factors affecting optimum role performance. The tool is also useful to evaluate preparedness of nurse managers and leaders on different areas such as financial management, human resource management, performance improvement, foundational thinking skills, technology, strategic management, human resource management skills and clinical practice knowledge (Kirby, 2010). The paper addresses leadership competency expectations on personal and professional accountability, career planning, personal journey disciplines and reflective practice reference behaviors/tenets.

Improving knowledge, skills, and abilities on leadership will help facilitate patient advocacy, but one still needs to ensure there is greater accountability to improve future healthcare delivery. From the nurse manager skills inventory, the rating for patient safety in promoting evidence-based practices is rated 4, which is competent and other sections show that I am focused on providing competent and high quality care and this is important to improve my professional competency and focus on ethical care. Nursing leadership development that improve various competency domains and fostering collaboration are more effective in imploring nurse manager skills (West et al., 2016).
