Pediatric asthma is a condition characterized by inflammation of the lungs and airways. Several factors cause inflammation. These include exposure to allergens and triggers such as pollen, a respiratory infection, and a common cold. Pediatric asthma causes significant changes in a child's daily life, including play, school, and sleep interference (Bowman et al., 2020). Some clinical characteristics of pediatric asthma include a frequent cough that worsens when there is a viral infection. Another characteristic is a whistling and wheezing sound when the child is breathing out (Bowman et al., 2020). The child may also experience breath shortness and chest congestion.
