Civility is important in both education and practice settings, as it teaches us how to respect others and how to work for the betterment of humanity. It is all about creating sustainable and productive work environments (Calhoun, 2016). Civility needs to be taught to new nurses so that they can get an idea of how they should behave while working in a hospital. If it is not taught or used in practice settings, the overall environment will be impacted as we won’t get to know how to amend our ways and provide the best possible services to our patients.
The area of personal strength is self-confidence. I am lucky to have a lot of self-confidence, but this never keeps me from gaining more and more knowledge and learning new things. I believe that this area of strength can be developed by knowing how to work under pressure. If I am able to handle uncertain situations positively, then it will show that I am a self-confident person and can deal with any problem independently. I do not want to be a part of the group that is full of over-confident people, as most of them may not work as efficiently as self-confident people do. I want to shake hands with those who are as self-confident as I am.
I think that I need to work on my leadership skills. I do not have the strength or stamina to become a leader. I know that a leader is required to speak to others once a while. I am a self-confident person, but when it comes to speaking to unknown people, I hesitate or feel shy.
