Asthma- A Respiratory Condition

Asthma Students Name Institutional Affiliation Asthma is a respiratory condition that results from the attack of spasm in the lung's bronchi hence resulting in a difficulty in breathing. If managed care is not administered during an attack, then there are high chances of the patient passing away. It is usually caused by allergic reactions in the environment around us. Therefore, when dealing with asthma patients, it is necessary to identify the various allergic reactions that result in the attack. As a result, this will make it easy for the patient to avoid attacks as much as possible. The condition is known to affect anybody and is mostly hereditary. However, there are different types of asthmas and among the most common is allergic asthma which can only be controlled by avoiding the triggering allergen. Other types include non-allergic asthma, Aspirin-induced asthma, adult-onset asthma, Allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis, exercise asthma, and cough-variant asthma among other types (Voorhees, Nezu, Nezu, Sherman, Most & Sher, 2018). The initial step to diagnosing an asthma patient is asking questions and taking various tests to determine the type of asthma that they are suffering from. As a result, this would make it easy for the physician to draw the asthma action plan. In the case of children below the age of 18 years, they need to be accompanied by a guardian so that they can play a role in the development of the action plan. The action plan makes it easy for the patients to control the disease for many years (Reddel, Bateman, Becker, Boulet, Cruz, Drazen & Lemanske, 2015).
