Aspect of Health Care Delivery System
Emerging Healthcare Law or Federal Regulation
The changes and advancements in today’s time are continuous; thus, the United States healthcare system must change continuously. There are numerous changes in the healthcare system, such as the technology, tools, machinery, and even the patient’s needs, the nursing students’ curriculum, the nursing faculty’s skills and knowledge, and the healthcare workers’ roles and responsibilities. Hence, the government has crafted and modified laws that will address the issues and needs of the healthcare system. Specifically, the government should prioritize the education system for nursing students.
Nursing education is the key to addressing rapid changes and innovations. The healthcare system is rapidly changing, and its demands are increasing. As a result, nurses must acquire new knowledge and skills when they start in practice (Cusson et al., 2020). The United States has passed the bill "Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019." The act seeks to assist student nurses by granting programs and training that will be valuable when they enter the field. The act provides nursing students with loans and scholarships to help them complete their education. This initiative will benefit students from low-income families. Since they do not have the financial means to continue their education, this act can help them, but they must repay the loan. This act also provides nursing faculty with loans. This fund is available to faculty for professional development. They can attend training or seminars to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge to practice. The act also provides grants for advanced education and diversity in the workforce (H.R. 728, 2019). Finally, this act supports the notion that healthcare workers, particularly nurses, require a solid educational foundation. If students receive the education they need in this rapidly changing world, they will most likely be competent and empowered nurses in the future. Therefore, education is the key to success.
How Quality Measures and Pay for Performance Affect Patient Outcomes
The government has used quality measures to promote high-quality healthcare services. Healthcare professionals can use these quality measures to assess healthcare procedures and outcomes, as well as patient perceptions and organization structures. Thus, the quality measures can positively affect patient outcomes. If the healthcare workers are aware of the patient’s perception, they can adjust to what the patient needs and wants. Through this, the healthcare workers can satisfy the patient, which means they have provided a quality healthcare service. Therefore, quality measures have a positive impact on patient outcomes.
Pay-for-performance programs aim to reward healthcare workers financially based on their medical performance. This scheme is said to impact both positive and adverse patient outcomes. The effects of the programs on patient outcomes depend on the healthcare workers. On the plus side, an excellent patient outcome is possible because healthcare workers will do their best to provide medical services to the patient. After all, money is their motivation. On the other hand, poo...
