Psychological Safety in Healthcare
Psychological safety in healthcare is the belief that nurses and other staff in healthcare will not be punished or humiliated for sharing their ideas and encouraging a work environment that welcomes constructive criticism (Pfeifer & Vessey, 2019). Psychological safety in healthcare encourages nurses to ask questions, express their concerns, and facilitate brainstorming to develop new ideas. This practice encourages teamwork; hence nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals work together to create personalized care plans for their patients. Psychological safety facilitates effective team learning, increased confidence, and creativity, which offers new solutions to old problems and increased productivity.
