Why is Communication a dual Responsibility?
The best angle to analyze the question of communication as a dual responsibility is by looking at the child's best interest. For the education of the child to be optimal, it is essential for both the teacher and the parent to be involved. Consequently, the teacher and the parent need to have meaningful communication concerning the well-being of the child. Communication goes more than just sharing information. Effective communication involves correct articulation of any issues relating to the well-being of the child as well as collecting feedback (Zanevsky, 2011). Communication between the teacher and the parent should not be one-sided. It should be an active form of engagement where the primary stakeholder is the child. It follows that communication is a dual responsibility. The teacher is responsible for communicating about the child's progress at school and what can be done to improve the experience. On the other hand, the parent should communicate primarily about the home factors that affect the education and well-being of the child. When dual communication is effective, the child benefits.
