Mission, Vision, and Core Values
A successful scholar must have a set of personal rules and regulations that govern them throughout their career. Creating a mission statement and a vision statement gives the scholar a path that they can follow as they impart knowledge and skills to the students. The vision and mission statement provides the tutor with a measuring scale that can help them rate their performance. Having the core values creates boundaries for the scholar, protecting them from any form of misconduct. A scholar that operates within a different code of conducts is bound to have a peaceful career than the one that is careless in their behavior. As a scholar, I already have a personal mission and vision statements that guide my career. I also have the different core values that give me the boundaries of operation.
Mission
To equip students with knowledge and understanding that can help them develop skills and awareness in their different areas of study, making them profitable to their community and the rest of the world.
My desires from the mission
My most crucial desire is to equip students with knowledge. According to Venus and Stam (2019), a scholar ensuring each student who gets to experience their teaching skills brings complete expertise in the specific unit. I will use assignments to encourage them to research more and get insight beyond what I can deliver in class. The other ways to ensure the students know is by making each tiny detail in the gets to the students. Following the course outline to the end is necessary for providing the details are tackled without skipping. To maximize any little time that I have for the lesson, I will ensure I give the students the lesson notes a week before the class. Finally, I will provide the students with knowledge by creating extra time for personal consultation whenever they do not understand in class. Having time with the students beyond the lesson gives them a chance to grow the information they have about the course beyond what I could deliver in class.
The other vital goal is to ensure the students understand in detail the course knowledge. Scholars believe that there is a big difference between receiving knowledge and understanding the knowledge. Preller et al. (2020) claim that acquiring knowledge is where a person gathers information on a particular field and keeps it. On the other hand, understanding knowledge is when a person knows how to apply the information differently. A person with comprehension gets to be more creative with insight into real-life application. As a scholar, I teach the students to have the research skills to improve their understanding level. As the students practice the research skills, it is easier for them to analyze the knowledge and create a complete paper to solve real-life problems.
Combining both knowledge and understanding is vital in giving the students skills and awareness in their professions.
