Narrative Final Paper: Choice of a College Education

Essay Instructions:

You have been asked to write a narrative piece for the Student College magazine, which is a fictional magazine. The magazine is running a feature section on student stories with a focus on how you made the decision to begin studying at Excelsior. Your goal is to tell your story but also encourage students who might be considering going to college.
The magazine requires an introduction, body, and conclusion in a traditional essay format. Your essay should have a clear thesis and should include narrative strategies to help engage your audience. If your essay is selected for publication, your writing will be read by thousands of readers.
Because the magazine has limited space and hopes to publish several narratives, your essay should be short, between 700 and 800 words. You are not required to use any outside materials, but if you do, the magazine requires APA documentation.

I worked fourteen hours a day every day to save the little I could for college. I knew one day I would get college education but just did not know when. With more experience at my job, I got my first promotion and that meant a higher pay and I was excited about it. However, this happened at a time when a family member fell ill that we had to pull together our finances for medical care. This meant that I had to work twice as hard to provide for them and for myself. A few years later, I landed another promotion that now gave me the opportunity to rest after work. I realised that I had time and that I had saved enough to continue with my education. I consulted with some of my workmates about going to college. But joining college was more than a dream to me. I needed something that would work hand in hand with m...
