Comparison of numbers and using of the less than symbol (<), the greater than symbol (>), and the equal sign (=) to record the outcomes of the comparison.

Lesson Summary and Focus:

Pupils will compare three-digit integers and document the findings using less than, greater than, and equal to symbols.

Anticipatory Set
* To engage pupils' past knowledge, I'll draw the numerals 248 and 488 on the board using a dry erase marker and have pupils write the numerals in extended form, numerical form, and place value form in their workbooks.

* I will show a few instances on the board to assist the children in recalling how to record the numerals in three distinct ways.
* The children will recreate the numerals on the board using their base ten blocks. This will make it easier for them to compare the numbers.
* When speaking about the comparison of numbers, I will use a variety of examples on the board.
