Organizational After reading Todd Whitaker's book "What Great Teachers Do Differently 17 Things that matter most," I liked the ideas presented in chapter 4: 'If You Say Something Mean It.' The chapter provides significant insights into how a teacher should shape students' behavior. Primarily, I like the idea that the teacher has to set expectations and make them known to the students at the beginning of the year (Whitaker, 2013). Great teachers apply indisputable teaching strategies. First, setting expectations helps teachers avoid going astray because they will focus on achieving their goals of successful instruction delivery to students. Therefore, a great teacher provides clear guidelines for student behavior. They set rules that guide the instruction delivery process so that students abide by it to help achieve the set educational goals. I learned that such teachers understand the power of these expectations, and their teaching practices outline the penalties for students that fail to follow the set rules.
