The defiant behavior among students is the selected behavior to explore and develop strategies in creating a PBIS intervention plan. There are two resources accessed in the website: the tier 1 interventions for defiant students, which is an online reading, and equity in school discipline: enhancing commitment through teacher training, which is an online video file. In the first resource, the written material, one of the tier 1 intervention is to acknowledge positive behavior. Acknowledging a student's positive behavior, as frequent as necessary, will serve as a positive reinforcement for the student to continue in doing good rather than defiant within the school grounds (Acknowledging Positive Behavior, 2019). Added in the readings, different studies reveal a ratio of five positive remarks for every one criticism about the student’s behavior is one of the effective ways to reduce defiant behaviors; however, the problem with this strategy is that it assumes that a student will do a positive behavior but a defiant students can be defiant from the start to end of a school day....
