Content-based instruction (CBI) is an approach that focuses on the content rather than the language. Hence, it is an effective tool for learning new things instead of focusing on the topic. CBI has been found to help bilingual students to develop their linguistic ability effectively. The approach focuses on what is being taught rather than the language itself. For instance, if an educator wants to teach Spanish, they can present a Spanish Civil War lesson using the Spanish language. CBI is based on the fact that authentic content tends to enhance intrinsic motivation among language learners (Mahawattha & Premaratne, 2015).  Therefore, learning a language using the target language is a more natural way of learning a language and is similar to the way human learn their first language.
