Eliminating play and free-choice time from the school schedule is detrimental to the learning and general wellbeing of the children. Combining the academic skills and play will be essential in laying the foundational skills to the children.
Allocating play and free-choice time enhances the well-being of children by promoting both emotional growth and internal drives. Gestwicki (2015) shares her support for assigning playtime to children as a means to prevent mental illness in the future.
