What is a scholarly source? Scholarly sources are academic or peer-reviewed sources that experts in a specific field write. Scholarly sources are often composed by academicians and other experts to contribute knowledge in specific areas by developing new research findings, concepts, theories, analyses, insights, or summaries of existing knowledge. Professional, also called trade sources, are developed by and for professionals. Such professionals or practitioners in a specific area of practice are not strictly research-related. Professional sources may sometimes resemble scholarly sources. However, progression sources may not include bibliographies, in-text citations, endnotes, or footnotes, but it can be pretty inconsistent when they use it. In addition, professional sources often have images, advertisements, and specialized vocabulary.
