The case is about two password-protected laptops that were stolen by a homeless man. The affected patients, around 729,000 were treated in six AHMC hospitals. Since a lot of data is at threat including patient names, insurance/patient payments, social security number, diagnosis/ procedure codes, and Medicare/insurance identification numbers, they are requested to check their credit reports for any form of fraud. Affected patient such as Arakaki are very scared that their medical conditions are exposed. Even though the two stolen laptops had passwords, they can be hacked and this means that the violation is on loss of mobile devices with HPI because of ineffective physical control (West, 2014). This explains why the homeless man managed to defeat the locks and get into the building without raising any alarm.
