Four Learning Theories
According to Locklear (2020), as a way of ensuring that a go-live in a health care center goes smoothly, it is important that there is effective training of the employees in a given medical center. McInerney (2020) depicts that what may be easily learned by one individual may be hard for another, so there is a need to adopt various approaches. Furthermore, the four learning theories that can be adopted while teaching the medical staff refer to conceptual frameworks that are mainly adopted when describing knowledge retention and even processing within a given time of learning. Therefore, the paper will discuss the four types of learning theories that can be adapted in designing and implementing a staff education program that will support a go-live implementation.
The first learning theory is operant conditioning. According to this theory, individuals tend to exhibit a given behavior based on the reward or punishment that comes with acting in a certain manner. Consequently, as a way of ensuring that the go-live implementation is a success, it is essential to ensure that staff are promised rewards for certain actions. When there is something to gain or even lose by acting in a particular manner, the behavior of staff in a major medical center will be greatly influenced. The cognitive theory is the second learning theory that can be used in training the staff. According to McInerney (2020), the theory entails the medical staff learning through active and constructive thinking. Consequently, learning using this theory is deemed easier since it entails retaining new information for a long time (Locklear, 2020). In this case, the go-live implementation is done piecemeal since an internal thought process is involved.
