Growing up, my parents always insisted on working hard in school and getting good grades. My father did casual jobs to see us through school while my mother mostly stayed at home to look after us. Although they did not make it to college, they inspired my siblings and me to aspire to scale the heights of education. 
Receiving a Golden 1 Scholarship would mean a lot to my family and me. As the first-born child in a family of five, this scholarship would make me a first-generation college student. A scholarship would allow me to choose the best course otherwise inaccessible due to cost. 
Financial aid through the Golden 1 scholarship would allow me to focus on school without working part-time to finance my studies, thus improving my performance.
