Food security refers to the system's ability to ensure that the entire population has accessibility to a reliable, dependable, and medically appropriate supply of food over the long term. Because governments are the essential stakeholders in the environmental, political, and economic components of a country's food security, any initiatives to strengthen food and agricultural security outcomes need to consider governance policies. Agriculture production, commerce, and macroeconomic indicators remain the main focus of food security policies.
Food and nutritional security for the public must continue to be the main central underlying aims of the federal administration's actions, initiatives, and approaches. Government plays the primary responsibility in mitigating food securities policies to ensure sustainable food accessibility to the citizens. Good governance develops proper food security measures to react to a food shortage and solve the multifaceted issues of food insecurity. The government should develop measures to encourage domestic production to fulfill population growth's demands to secure state food security (Seligman & Berkowitz, 2019, p. 330). Government Agriculture policies should prioritize agricultural production and enhance nutrition, especially for vulnerable populations, and increase the durability of cultural and indigenous food production and diversity. Subsistence farmers' food production must be strengthened to meet food security measures, post-harvest wastage must be reduced, and post-harvest value addition must be increased and supporting small farmers' local, statewide, and regional food markets, including distribution warehousing and manufacturing.
According to neoliberal principles and practice, the freedom of personal entrepreneurship inside a regulatory arrangement typified by robust private-property rights, market economics, and commerce is the best method to attain human welfare. For neoliberal global capitalism to succeed, direct governmental interference in the economy must be phased down, allowing the private industry to take control of the allocation of resources more efficiently and effectively (Otero, 2021, p. 560). In the pursuit of greater food security, neoliberal theory advocates for the commercialization and industrialization of farming activities to expand global food security.
