Understanding Persuasive Communication

Essay Instructions:

We engage in persuasion every day. Whether we are posting on a social media site about the need to build sidewalks to keep our children safe when they are walking to school, emailing our boss to propose a new safety procedure, or writing an academic essay that advocates a mandatory spay/neuter program in our city, we have to consider the most appropriate audience, method of communication, and evidence to make our case.
For the Unit 2 Assignment, you will select examples of persuasive communications that you have encountered or produced yourself in personal, professional, and academic contexts. You will describe the examples and analyze what made them effective. Considering what makes persuasion work will help you to craft a strong argument for change in the upcoming units.
In this assignment, you will write three paragraphs describing and analyzing effective persuasive communication you have encountered or produced in personal, professional( I work as a registered behavior technician with autistic kids), and academic contexts. In each of the three paragraphs, include at least one concrete example of effective persuasion that you have experienced or produced yourself to illustrate your points. Describe that example, identify the parts of the rhetorical situation (audience, speaker, text, purpose, and context), and offer specific reasons why the example was effectively based on the concepts covered in the Units 1 and 2 Reading. You can also include information on tone, style, formality, voice, correctness, evidence, and word choice as you develop your analysis.
Follow APA formatting guidelines for the document. Paragraphs should be well-developed (use the “point, illustrate, explain” method), cohesive, and edited for clarity and correctness. Cite any sources used in APA style, including the course reading.

Persuasive Communication
Persuasive communication is the communication that aims to change and affect the response of people, and the answer is primarily favorable. According to Derin et al., 2020 persuasive communication is required in many situations and is used in everyday life, such as when arguing with friends or giving out a speech. Rhetoric is the art of communicating persuasively, and it is crucial in developing persuasive communication. This text aims at describing persuasive communication in a personal, professional, and academic context.
Personal persuasive communication would be posting on the social media site since many schools have opened an online platform to be used as a means of communication. An example is a parent's post on the necessity of sidewalks near the school to ensure the safety of children. In this case, the intended audience would be the authorities of the school and the community involved. With the current recklessness of traffic, it has been challenging for students to cross and use the roads. The introduction of sidewalks would increase the safety of pupils and avoid numerous accidents happening. It will provide a safe environment for students to walk in without bumping into traffic and keep the parents at home in peace. According to Burn & Oskamp, 1986, sidewalks positively impact and favor many parents and students and, therefore, will persuade them to support them. The post highlights the issue and its dangers, how sidewalks provide safety, and what could help the situation.
In a professional context, formal communication is mostly used for persuasion. An example is an employee who observed an unsafe working environment due to mishandling of machines and harmful garbage all over the workplace that is risky to the workers' health. In this case, an email is used as a means of communication to address safety measures at the workplace. The email addresses the boss or management at the workplace, a...
