Research Proposal on Patient Liaison
Research question: How does patient liaison facilitate effective communication between patients and their healthcare providers?
In particular, patient liaison or patient care advocacy is a crucial task that brings physicians and patients together. Although care providers can interact directly with the patients, in some cases, there exist barriers that hinder effective communication. That is the point when patient liaison becomes important in ensuring that healthcare providers and their patients can communicate well to enhance proper diagnosis and treatment. The primary reason that an individual proposed to focus on this topic is to reveal the importance of effective communication in the provision of quality healthcare services. For instance, whenever a sick person visits a hospital, one expects to get quality medical services without minding whether the doctor understands the language that an individual is using. In that light, without patient liaison to bridge the gap between patients and doctors, it can be challenging for physicians to comprehend the needs of sick people from distinctive cultures.

Compassion and excellence are the two primary aspects involved in responsible caring (Schultze, 2005). In addition, individuals are expected to gain relevant skills and experience so that they can serve others well. Communication entails sending the message so that it can be received and comprehended by the intended party before replying. During that time, the most significant thing is to know their patients’ needs regardless of the communication barriers that might occur. Patient liaison ensures that doctors can understand patients by neutralizing communication hindrances that might be there.
Specifically, my research is vital to the field of communication since it shows the importance of patient care advocacy. Patient liaison does not only bridge the gap between healthcare providers and patients, but these intermediaries address concerns that patients and their families might have during and after treatment. For example, when a family member is hospitalized, it can cause anxiety to other family members who might not know the medical procedures to be undertaken (Mottaghi et al., 2022). On that note, the only way to prevent such anxiety is to communicate with the family members and take them through the care process. Without effective communication, it can be stressful for care providers to deliver quality healthcare services t...
