Acquiring the skill of active listening is a skill that can significantly boost the quality of one's personal and professional interactions, leading to deeper connections and improved understanding. Thus, I practice analytical listening. An in-depth evaluation of the speaker's message, including its content, context, and underlying intentions, distinguishes this style. However, the listening style must be modified to recognize human communication's context sensitivity (Itani, Goad & Jaramillo, 2019). In emotionally-charged interactions, I adopt empathetic listening as an improved way to facilitate communication. This approach emphasizes recognizing and comprehending emotional signals rather than engaging in analytical inquiry.
Through targeted actions, listening can be improved at every stage. Developing one's focus and eliminating distractions would be essential during the early stages of "paying attention."
