Over the last few years communication has radically changed with the advent of the social media. Away from the traditional media, users are able to connect with one another regardless of their distance in an instant. To put this into perspective, Facebook, one of the giant social media websites serves more than 2.19 active users a month. Social media now plays a crucial role in students’ lives as well. They are able to connect with other students and access information much faster. At the global level, social media has brought about cultural diversity and enhanced social integration between different people. the most positive changes have been felt in areas such as Target Advertising, Create Social Media Followers, Visibility of Corporation social responsibility, Protesting social issues, Educational purpose and Regulation of political campaign.
Introduction
Social Media has developed at an astonishing speed within the modern society. Users now have the ability to connect with other users instantaneously from anywhere and at any given time. It is hard to imagine that, back in the day people used pigeons to send and receive messages by relying on their homing abilities. This was a slow form of communication as information would take more than a week to get to the recipient. However, this has since changed as people need only type away on the mobile devices and the recipient will get the message right away. The generation that has largely witnessed this transformation in the communication technologies are those that were around during the Second World War (Morrow, 2014). This is a generation that also witnessed the landing of the Apollo 11 on the lunar surface and the time that it took to transfer back small bits of information over the long distance. Social media is ubiquitous around the world, and is a series of platforms that allow the users to share their experiences, photos and videos, over their social network pages on sites such as Facebook or Twitter. They form a link between people that are close and those that are acquaintances locally and internationally. According to statistics of 2018, Facebook already has 2.19 billion active users every month. With such a platform, people are able to share information much faster, which makes it a very formidable resources for political parties as they can easily interact with millions of people in an instant.
The level of convenient such technology offers also brings with it negative impacts to students’ studies and also presents a security risk associated with leaking personal information over the internet.

Social media platforms is a haven for entertainment and even learning. There are 2.19 billion active Facebook users, this goes to show the subtle significance of the platform in sheer scale of connectedness among users. More importantly, over the years surfing on the internet or social media has become an essential part of daily life.
