I would not have enjoyed playing for a coach like Sullivan because I do not have a substantial pain tolerance. It is essential to acknowledge that it is almost impossible to play football without experiencing physical and mental strain. However, there is a sense in which the training which "Bull" "Cyclone" offered involved injuries that required nursing. As a result, the exercises seemed to bring forth more harm than improving the physical fitness of the players. It is for this reason that most of the players ran away or quitted. Case in point, Deford (1984) reports one of the players who confessed that “I was playing defensive guard and got my nose broken. It was bleeding real bad and pushed around to the side, but Bull just kicked my butt and told me to get back in there." The confession infers that the coach was focused so much on winning that he barely cared about his players' health status.
Moreover, I prefer working in a place where I feel valued, which is not the case in Sullivan's team. The Scooba's coach did not have a strong emotional attachment with the players. He was used to students pulling off from the team to the extent that he only cared about winning. As a result, most of the players lacked the motivation of impressing him because they were aware that the coach would forget them as soon as they quit, injured or incapacitated in any way to play.
