Analysis: Rents in Orlando and Tampa have been rising at a faster rate than rents in almost every other part of the country. The average rent in Orlando increased about 21 percent in one year between 2020 and 2021.
Plan of Action: Walt Disney World commenced construction on more than 1,300 housing units on around 80 acres of land in Orange County. Residents will have access to a number of inexpensive and feasible accommodation facilities as part of the development (Avila, 2022). The new units will be convenient because they are close to learning institutions and Disney's new Flamingo Crossings shopping and dining complex.
Situation: The country's affordable housing dilemma has been most serious in recent years in central and southern Florida, where the supply of housing has failed to keep up with population growth. The problem has been exacerbated by the epidemic since increases in property prices, and rentals have outpaced income growth. Affordable housing has long been a challenge in Florida. The private sector is unable to provide accommodation for many people living on the edge of poverty. The lack of affordable housing has long-term negative consequences for low-income families. Prioritizing housing has been shown to be the most effective way of removing people from homelessness and preventing them from returning.
