In the fields of statistics and mathematics, an effect size is a quantitative measure of the magnitude of a phenomenon (Dawson, 2008). Its best examples are the regression coefficient, an average difference, the risk taken for something to happen and the correlation between two or more variables. I strongly believe that the calculation of an effect size is important as, without it, it is not possible for me to continue the research project.
