Search engine optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) are two familiar terminologies for online marketers seeking to drive their content online. SEO attracts more traffic to the website by simply optimizing the web pages, whereas PPC is an optimization technique that comes with a budget. Marketers pay for their ads to rank favorably in the search engines or even appear on other websites running ads. Careful and creative use of SEO can potentially get the online marketer more traffic than the paid ads, and some basic things need to be mastered to get the best out of SEO: picking keywords, onsite optimization, and offsite link building (Beck, 2014).
Unfortunately, SEO experts cannot predict or master the search engines’ algorithm to rank searches. However, one common constant attribute with the ever-changing search algorithms is the choice of keywords used to optimize the websites. It is important to choose the most appropriate keyword at every stage of the marketing campaign and be aware of the declining options as you approach the post-purchase stage of the search campaign.
