Starbucks' Organizational Culture
Update from the client:
ONLY AN OUTLINE; this is not an essay, only an outline
For this assignment, we will use the case of an interesting person and/or organizations. As you read your biography, you will no doubt recognize elements of the story related to concepts from class (e.g., power, information infrastructure, leadership, financial valuation, organizations as systems, leadership, culture, organizational change, communication style, personal branding). In the paper, you will write your own narrative of important events in the case. However, your narrative will involve commentary applying theory and frameworks: communication strategy, leadership, negotiation, team work structure, etc. In addition to using course concepts to explain elements of the case, it’s perfectly appropriate to engage in critical thinking about existing theory. For example, you might consider how your case invites greater nuance, clarification, or even defies the wisdom of current theory.
The structure of this paper will simply have an introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction should create curiosity, justify the importance of the topic, and give a clear sense of what will be covered in the body of the paper. There is flexibility in how you structure the body of the paper, but the body of the paper should be clearly structured. There should be a clear sense of main topics and sub topics that fit the content of your analysis. The conclusion should provide a sense of closure and give a sense of new areas for research. To do so, there should be a summary of key takeaways and how they could be applied outside the case. There should also be academic reflection. Were there events in the case that could not be explained well by existing theory? What new questions should be explored in the future to refine existing theory?
