It allows it to be able to improve its product offering and advertisement strategies to increase its profitability and success in the long run. In this article, the author would like to focus on conducting a competitor analysis of ShopNiche, which is a mobile eCommerce application that offers niche products.
Competitor Analysis
The current competitors include Amazon, eBay, and Walmart. Future competitors could include other niche sites like Newegg and Reverb. The trend in the market share among competitors is that the bigger companies dominate most of the consumer traffic and sales volume. However, niche products have the potential to be profitable for smaller companies.
The barrier to entry includes competitiveness of the market, high advertising costs, and reduced powers over suppliers. Nonetheless, the rivals are unique based on their different competencies. This includes differences in the variety of products that are sold, logistics capabilities, variations in price points, and specific niche markets. Each rival has its own weakness and opportunity. For example, Amazon has a huge consumer base and the best logistics systems but less capacity for niche markets.
The pressure regarding the balance of power between suppliers and buyers affects the industry by influencing the costs of production for such products. Since Amazon and eBay dominate the market, suppliers get more leverage over sellers. They also have the enough resourceds to exploit their opportunites and strengths, and there seems to be no substitutes or new products that could affect the competitive situation as of today.The competitors have focused their products on niche products or decreased their prices.
One of the things that must be taken into consideration is the efficacy of the Return-on-Advertisement due to the highly competitive industry. This is because it increases the risks of reducing the company's Return-on-Advertisement.
