All employees understand an ethical dilemma for everyone, one way or another will most likely experience it. Ethical dilemmas exist secondary to the differences in culture, beliefs, intellect, and social background of each member. Its existence serves as a gap in the relationship of the members. Nevertheless, the ethical dilemmas can be resolved without losing respect and harming other employees and the organization (Rafner, 2019).
One of the most common workplace ethical dilemmas is supervisor-subordinate disagreement. The supervisor’s prominent role is to become his subordinates’ mentor, educator, and evaluator. Hence, the supervisor should be guided by the code of ethics, professionalism, and the beacon of accountability. However, ethical dilemmas arise from deviations from the standards of professional code, the existence of sexual relationships with the employees, incompetence, lack of support to the subordinate, and conflicts of interest (Cimino et al., 2013).
