Organizational Culture Analysis: The Observable Artifacts

Symbols of culture are called artifacts. Artifacts are the most visible and accessible level of culture. These include behaviors, stories, rituals (everyday practices that are repeated frequently), and symbols (e.g., company logos, company colors). For example, the president of a company volunteering at Habitat for Humanity is an artifact of culture. An example of symbols as an artifact of culture is University of Arizona Global Campus’ shield that serves as our logo and is printed on transcripts, diplomas and letterhead paper. Submit a two- to three-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages) describing the culture of either your current or past place of employment.
Your paper should provide examples of and address each of the following topics:
Observable artifacts
Espoused values (These are what organizational members say they value, like ethical practice.)
Enacted values (These are reflected in the way individuals actually behave.)
In addition, describe how each item listed above impacts the values and culture of the organization.
Your paper must use a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook. Your paper must also follow the APA Style guide.

I work for the City of Sugar Land, one of Texas's fastest-growing cities. One of the most observable artifacts in Sugar Land is the city manager, Mike Goodrum. The city manager implements policies and executes city programs. All heads of departments are answerable to the manager. The departmental heads include the police and city attorney. 
The other observable artifact is the city’s emblem. The dominant color in the logo is blue, which many people believe stands for trust, authority, and loyalty. In addition, the logo has a crown, which symbolizes a force to be reckoned with.
Espoused Values
Enacted values are the norms and standards that the members of an organization say they value. They are crucial because they enhance accountability, diversity, and ownership, among others (Shoenlaub, 2015). In Sugar Land, one of the enacted values that we espouse is honesty. The city’s policies encourage all employees to be truthful to each other. This is because uprightness enables the fostering of robust friendships. In addition, we believe that honesty will significantly help us improve the overall image of our city.
The other enacted value that Sugar Land espouses is accountability. This is paramount in making the city more attractive and habitable. For instance, accountability ensures that employees serve the city residents efficiently and satisfactorily. Equally important, accountability has played a pivotal role in enhancing security in the city. That is one of the reasons why the city earned a slot in the list of top 100 places to live. The distinction has attracted more visitors and helped the city earn more revenue.
