The Jeep Cherokee is a crossover SUV produced under the Jeep brand by the Fiat Chrysler Automobile Company. The vehicle is designed for use by multiple demographics. However, its large size makes it particularly attractive for families. The Jeep Cherokee lineup retails at upwards of $30,000. Thus. The potential customer is middle class, with access to financing and will have a family. The potential customer base of the Cherokee model is price sensitive. Though, the major determinant is safety, fuel economy and financing for the vehicle. The manufacturers have attempted to sell the SUV primarily to young families across cultures. The vehicle has significant legroom and significant cargo space. The 2017 model is billed with having the ability to increase traction in snow-prone areas. The safety features on the vehicle. These include; automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, automated parking system, and stability control CITATION FCA17 \l 1033 (FCA North America, 2017).
This vehicle will be attractive largely to working mums, who need to have a dual purpose vehicle. The vehicle should be able to transport the family and seamlessly transition into the corporate environment. The vehicle as part of the Jeep brand has heightened off road capabilities. Thus, users can utilize it in areas that do not have adequate infrastructure. The company can expect greater use of technology in driving. Noting, the industry is moving towards in integrating technology in driving especially driverless vehicles. The company is building the Cherokee on the FCA compact wide platform. The platform allows the vehicles to have enhanced capabilities. The vehicle is an exceptional SUV, where it can be used in multiple terrain without affecting the comfort of occupants.

The Jeep brand is currently owned and sold by Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA). It is fully owned by the FCA US, as a subsidiary. The Jeep brand was cemented during the Second World War. Where millions of units were sold to allies worldwide in support of the war. This resulted in the vehicle being shipped globally and it saw action in the major armies of the world. The vehicle was valued for it simple functionality. The Jeep brand today is associated with it’s off road capability. It is touted as a modern sports utility vehicle, this ensures it can attract new customers to the brand. The company at the moment is successful at touting the off road capabilities of the Jeep Cherokee. It is valued as a sports utility vehicle that can be used on any surface. The company has however failed in marketing the vehicle globally especially in the emerging markets of Asia and Africa. The company’s competitors are all automakers globally. However, automakers which focus on the sports utility and 4x4 models poses a greater challenge. These include; Nissan, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota etc.
The company should tailor its marketing approach to the market it seeks to sell units in. A one size fits all is not conducive for sales in markets where the demographic is not similar to the US. In emerging markets e.g. Africa, young parents often do not have the financ...
