Involving Myself in the Business World

Essay Instructions:

You initially discussed some career goals in Unit 1 and careers in Unit 9 of this course. Now you will examine differences in skills, considering a master’s and bachelor’s degree candidate versus an associate’s degree candidate for a position of your choice, and reflect on your goals.
In this assignment, you will begin your career search on the website of the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor and Statistics (www(dot)bls(dot)gov) for the degree that you will soon have earned (Associates in Business Management). For business, for example, read about the occupations, reviewing the job summaries, entry-level education, and median pay. In general, the skills you should have acquired in the course of your studies for the Associate’s Degree in Business Administration program would include the skills listed below:
Strong oral and written communication. If you have a great policy and procedure to change the business, you must effectively communicate it.
Critical thinking skills. Be able to think beyond how to solve the problem to analyze it after implementation to realize how it is going to affect the company.
Leadership skills. Be able to influence others.
Ability to anticipate information technology needs to remain competitive.
Understanding of different cultures and awareness of having a diverse pool of employees.
Intellectual curiosity. Not just to ask questions, but to ask the right questions to get the right answers.
Experience. To become an expert in the industry. To remain a life-long learner in your profession.

Compare required skill sets and lifetime earnings at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s levels for your ideal long-term position on the U.S. Department of Labor website: Occupational Outlook Handbook.

In the meantime, as I am soon to achieve the degree that I'm pursuing in Business management, especially in the food industry, I think my short-term goal is to gain more experience by involving myself in the business world. I plan to be a business manager of a food business company in the long term, and in order to do that, I must first build up my experiences to be aware of my coworkers better. As any other great leader say, "One cannot lead their workers if they don't know how to do their workers' job" that is why I plan to start to the bottom up. I think I will work as a part-time or a full-time worker at any fast-food chain so that I can dip my toes into how business work. Once I'm in the work field, I plan to gain as much experience as I can so that I know how every employee in the business contributes to a company's success.
This short-term goal that I have will continue for two years or more, depending on how things will turn out, because I might have things to sort out before I do my next plan in my career. In addition to that, I can make my portfolio much more attractive to employers because I can put that I have an experience in the food business for two years.
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (2022) given by the US Department of Labor website, people with an associate degree in business management are more than qualified to have a job in their chosen industry.
